The Avro 504 was a two-seat double-decker training aircraft from the British manufacturer Avro. Adding up all the different models, approx. 9000 Avro 504s were manufactured from 1913. For the time, an impressive number.
The Avro 504K: Since the 504 was only used in small numbers as a combat aircraft, the orders for the originally planned engine were reduced, which led to bottlenecks in engine delivery.
Avro adapted the cell to different engines and called these models Type 504K.
Engines from Trulin, Gnome, Curtiss, Sunbeam, Bentley, Wasp and Hispano-Suiza were used.
These aircraft were used in a wide variety of tests by the Royal Aircraft Establishment in Farnborough, more than 300 aircraft were flown by civilian users until the 1930s and only then replaced by the De Havilland Aircraft Company's Moth series and the Avro Avian .
The total production of the 504K amounted to 6175 aircraft, 1650 of them in the Avro factory and was thus the most manufactured aircraft type of the Avro 504 series.
